Casandra Hillman - Northern California Dance Coordinator and Teacher

Casandra Hillman is a Northern California dance coordinator and instructor who has been active with the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) for many years. Among the courses she teaches are dance history, somatic movement, and dance production, and she is also responsible for teaching ballet, modern dance, jazz, and hip hop. Casandra Hillman informs dance program curriculum development and modification, and helps shape the faculty hiring process.

Ms. Hillman’s strategic involvement extends to fundraising and budget oversight, and she helps ensure that equipment needs are fully met. She coordinates a yearly trip to the American College Dance Association conference, accompanying students to the gathering. Ms. Hillman also directs and coordinates the Fall Dance Showcase and is responsible for the Schultz Scholarship application and selection process.

Casandra Hillman has secured a number of professional opportunities over the years, as with a faculty professional development grant focused on “The Future of Dance in Education.” She is a longstanding member of the Dancers Group in the San Francisco Bay Area, and presented on “Focus on Dance Education: Collaborations: A Mosaic of Possibilities” at the 2014 NDEO conference.
